It’s has been an amazing week with the Philadelphia Flower Show being so close by.
The spring breezes today and the inspiration from the Philadelphia Flower Show are making this gardener double check when the last frost might be. The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society presented the show with a theme of Brilliant! this year. It was a British theme and had a great variety of carefully manicured gardens and free flowing English Gardens. The Big Ben arrangement in the middle of the floor was a great centerpiece too.
The crowds weren’t too bad on a weekday morning and this marks Tomato’s second trip to the Flower Show. She loved Big Ben and was captivated by all of the fountains and the living statue display (pictured below). She stood and watched her move for at least ten minutes and has talked about the “lady doing ballet” for most of the last week.
Right by Big Ben were a trio of sculptures made from recycled materials. There was copper piping, tires and old hoses used for these three eggs. Sustainability was definitely a theme that was carried throughout the Philadelphia Flower Show and it was great to see it there.
I am a sucker for pinks in the garden and with phone calls into several fencing companies, my dreams of flower beds may be achieved this year. I love the contrast of dark and light pinks here and the fragrance was captivating. It was one of those displays that you just wanted to lay down in and enjoy the flowers around you.
The coral colors caught my attention too, so snapdragons (pictured above) may be making their way into the garden too. I love the height that these get and the layers of textures.

Hey neighbor! I didn’t realize yo lived nearby! We’re in the Philly area, too. Well, if you can count about 45 mins to an hour “nearby”. Where do you live? We’re southwest of Philly, heading towards Lancaster.
We are over the river in Jersey!
Wow, that Big Ben display is cool!
It was very impressive!
Love that coral flower!
Yeah, I am thinking of lots of snapdragons when our new fence goes in.
These are beautiful pictures. I’d love to check out a flower show one of these days. Maybe when it gets warmer.
Estelle
It’s definitely worth the trip, Estelle!
Snapdragaons are my favorite. I’m so happy to see some spring flowers. My daffodils are up and look so pretty with my purple crocuses.
Our daffodils and crocuses popped this week too. I can’t wait for the tulips to emerge!
Big Ben was so cool! Did you catch the short show on the clock face? I figured out most of the rock bands, though not all of them.
Yes. It was very cool! We had to explain the bands to Tomato, but she loved it.
I love flower and garden shows!
Philly is a great one. I’d love to find a listing of others in order to plan some trips.
I love the snapdragons! Those are gorgeous. Thank you for hosting! This morning I am linking up my thoughts on a new book about efficient, economic ways to homestead called “Plowing with Pigs”. Have a great week.
Jenny, it was a great review! Thanks for linking up this week!
Looks like it was great! Between yours and Barbs photos, I am officially jealous!
We need a girls’ day out with the three of us next year, Lauryn!
