Tuesday Greens #17: Made My Own Bread!!

by Becky Elmuccio on January 22, 2013

Last week, I set a 2013 goal to actually use my breadmaker and yogurt maker that we received at our wedding 6 years ago. They had sat dormant for a long time, but this past Saturday, we fired up the Cuisinart Breadmaker and made our first loaf of bread. I had a bunch of ingredients to buy for the first time, but I was thrilled to find Organic Valley Nonfat Dry Milk to go with the other ingredients. My only struggle to find organic ingredients were baking soda and baking powder, but I may just need to research some more.

So, have you had success in moving forward to meet your green resolutions this year?

I loved using the bread machine this week! We will definitely be making this part of our routine.

My neighbor tells me organic baking soda, etc… at Wegmans… Check it out on your next shopping trip… Good luck…..

I LOVE making my own bread! I have a great easy recipe that I whip up about once a week. But the only problem is… I want to eat it all!

We stretched it out over a few days. Sandwiches and french toast were a big hit with this.

Yeah you! The container for my bread machine just fell apart. I’m debating whether to see if I can replace it or go back to using the mixer. On the other hand, the Blendtec blender I’m reviewing is supposed to be able to make bread. I may try that first. Bird in hand and all that.

Let me know how the Blendtec does with it.

We got a bread machine for our wedding, too. I *do* use it – but not as regularly as I should!

I am looking forward to mixing pizza dough in it too.

Congrats that you met one of your goals! There is truly nothing like homemade bread, so yummy when it is still warm!

This looks delicious! We’re experimenting with Paleo breads now because my husband has rheumatoid arthritis and the no-starch diet is supposed to help to suppress the flare-ups.

If you come along any good recipes for paleo breads, please link them up in future Tuesday Greens. Loved your trail mix recipe this week!
