Green Resolutions Giveaway: Runner’s Discovery Journal

by Becky Elmuccio on January 16, 2013

Welcome to the Green Resolutions Giveaway Hop, hosted by Happy Mothering and Mama Chocolate. To help our readers start their New Year off Green, members of the Green Moms Network have come together to offer giveaways valued at $25+. After entering my giveaway below, please visit the other blogs listed under the Rafflecopter form to find the rest of the green giveaways.

As part of my 31 Days of Resolutions, I have been discussing goals and resolutions for hobbies on Wednesdays. Today, I would love to share one of the ways that I am getting back into running.

The Runner’s Discovery Journal by Sara Grace provides the runner/ reader with a 60 day program to becoming more empowered in his/her running and general life. I’ll be doing a full review as I make my way through the program, but today is your chance to win the journal along with B2P recycled pens. The pen set is made from recycled bottles and gets even greener because you can use ink refills in them in lieu of throwing the pen out and starting a new one. Using these prizes together can help you reach your running goals and reflect on how you can improve your life and health.

So, who’s ready to run and reclaim their confidence while experiencing the great outdoors? Enter to win in the entry form below!

I love the B2P pens! Especially since I found some with purple ink. It’s a crazy thing of mine – I love to write with purple ink.

I love to run and I love to race. I mostly love to talk with anyone about running. And I didn’t like running until about 5 years ago when my health needed me to take seriously changes I could make on my own before I was forced to face the sad truth. I also love green initiatives. Some ideas I see make me think “why didn’t I do that?!?!?!” 🙂

It’s painful for me to run but I need to start walking more. My previous job required tons of walking, but the job I start next week is at a desk. I hope to get a walk in most evenings, though.

I actually started running last summer. I quit smoking after 10 years and went for it. From then to now, I went from walking almost every 30 seconds for at least a minute, to walking every quarter mile. Now I can run TEN MILES without a single walk break. I never thought I would quit smoking for good and really never thought I would be able to run more than 5 miles non-stop. It really is amazing what obstacles the mind is able to overcome. My goal for this year is to run a half and then full marathon! Wish me luck!!

My running goal for 2013 is to start the C25k running plan. I was going to start today but it is only going to be 34 degrees here today and I am running with my daughter in the stroller so I will wait a few more weeks. I live in VA so it shouldn’t be to long until it warms up. I also plan to jog/run a 5k this year, summer or fall.
