This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the #MomMixer event in Philadelphia. Hosted by Whitney Wingerd of Mommies with Style and Colleen Padilla of Classy Mommy, the event previewed a number of new toys, jewelry and clothing for the holiday season.
I carpooled with Sarah, from Finnegan and the Hughes, and Trish, from Yoke. Although we have talked over time online, it was my first time meeting the ladies and I had a great time. I found out they are also knitters and we are meeting up to knit some hats for Sarah’s collection for Hurricane Sandy survivors. A great day was off to a great start!
The event was hosted by XIX Restaurant at Hyatt at The Bellevue Hotel on Broad Street. It was a lovely venue for this size of the event and allowed us plenty of room to see the vendors. Several of the event vendors caught my eye because they were perennial favorites of mine or some new favorites to be.
First up, was Stella & Dot, represented by Star Stylist Jen Thomas. I love this jewelry line as it has a great selection of daytime and nighttime pieces. The pieces that I own from this line always get the most compliments. Their latest collection had a ton of necklaces and bracelets over which to drool.
If you are interested in Stella & Dot jewelry for your holiday shopping list, be sure to swing by Jen’s website and order away. If you want to book a show with her (online or in person), be sure to mention my blog!! She is also offering my readers free shipping on orders of $75 or more. But, act fast! The offer is available for three days from this post. Email her at Jen516@gmail.com to redeem the offer.
I was thrilled to have the chance to see VZ Wraps in person at the event. I have heard a lot about these handmade gift bags and I was impressed with the workmanship and the eco-friendly fabrics and ribbons that Isabelle uses. It’s a great green alternative to wrapping paper at any point in the year.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing Little Passports, a company that was new to me. The company offers two monthly geography kit subscriptions at a fantastic price as low as $10.95 each month. The kits follow Sam and Sophia as they make their way through different countries and states. The kits are designed for ages 5-12 and include letters, postcards, an activity book, crafts and an online component.
As a former teacher, I am chomping at the bit for Tomato to be old enough to start getting these. They would be a great homeschooling kit for world and US geography and offer kids a great entry to the subject. We received a lovely US map in our gift bag and I am looking forward to getting it laminated so Tomato and I can use it to learn the states this winter. If you are looking for a great experience based gift for kids this holiday season, this is the one to grab!! It’s a well thought out program that is done with care. Bravo, Little Passports!
Overall, I had a lovely time talking with all of the companies and enjoyed conversations with Barely There, Hasbro, Tommy Hilfiger, Just Play Toys Inc., and K-Nex about what it is that they do that is eco-friendly. I’ll post again about these companies as I hear more from them in these regards. Thanks again to Colleen and Whitney for a lovely morning and I look forward to other events that they host in the area.
Disclosure: I received an invitation to this event and a gift bag of items. Opinions and pictures are my own.
