As the organization says, “We have a day for giving back. We have two days for getting deals. It’s time to have a day for giving back. I have a month’s worth ofย posts coming in December about my 2013 New Year’s resolutions, several of which will be about giving back. But, I wanted to bring your attention to this new initiative over on www.givingtuesday.org.
This year, they are urging folks to think about how they are giving back this holiday season. You can post how you are giving back in your own community or check out options that are already listed on the website.
Personally, we’re going to be dropping food off at the local food pantry and I will be working on knitting a hat for Spreading the Warmth in order to provide some comfort and warmth for a victim of Hurricane Sandy. I’ll also be doing our annual donation to Heifer International in order to help those in need around the world to become self-sustaining.
How will you give back this Tuesday?

We’re continuing the Hurricane Sandy donation collection at our parish for another week. I’m hoping to get knitting next week.
Great to hear that you guys are still collecting for Sandy, Barb. It’s important to keep it going.
Such a neat initiative! I’m off to check out their site now. We try to make it a regular thing to donate food and clothing items to our local shelters. Looking forward to your December posts! ๐
It’s important to do food banks throughout the year. They get a rush at the holidays, but are always in need of supplies.
I just heard about this on NPR today, what a timely post – thanks! I think we might be giving to our local public radio station!
Good idea! We just became members of WXPN in Philly since we love what they offer as a member-supported station.
I absolutely love this! I can’t wait to read up on your resolutions!
I’ve got some good ones coming, Jaime! Laid out my editorial calendar yesterday and can’t wait to start writing!
Such a great thing to do! We’ve purchased a pile of hats and gloves for the giving tree at our church, and we’ve got piles’o’food to donate to our local shelter. ๐ I’m sure we could be doing more, I’ll be checking out that site! ๐
Great ideas, Stacy!
