Favorite Eco-Friendly Thing That I Do

Favorite Eco-Friendly Thing to Do

I have always recycled, I’ve been buying organic foods for years, but my new favorite eco-friendly thing to do is shop at thrift shops. Since we cut back to one of us working full-time and adding the Tomato to the family, we have been a bit more thrifty. We are lucky to be gifted a lot of hand-me-downs, and whatever we need to supplement with that either comes from great sales at Carter’s or thrift shops like Impact Thrift Stores and Once Upon a Child. I’ve blogged about both great places in the past and highly recommend them. Impact Thrift Stores are in the Philadelphia region and addresses are listed here. Once Upon a Child is a national chain with locations across the country and opening more new stores soon. Both places help us to find high quality, gently used clothes that save us money and keep a lower impact on the planet by purchasing goods that can be reused. This Saturday marks I Love Thrifting Day, so grab your reusable bags, check your clothing inventory and head out for great deals and comfort in your head and heart about the planet!
Do you have any great thrift shops by you? Which do you recommend?

I recycle just about everything also but I haven’t been in a thrift shop lately. I loved the Once Upon a Child store when we were down south. We have a kids resale shop near me that I check every once in awhile. A lot of the adult resale/consignment shops up here seem to be a little expensive though.

I haven’t tried thrift shopping for myself yet or haven’t since college theme parties. My sister has made a bundle at selling things through some of the higher end thrift shops.

I don’t usually shop at thrift stores… the ones around me are way to disorganized! I do shop/sell at consignment sales, though, which is still eco friendly and way more organized. 🙂 I like that the clothes are separated by size and gender. 🙂

Great that you have some good consignment sales near you. We have some big ones in South Jersey and I’ll have to try them out to shop ahead in sizes. It seems like they are always when we’ve entered a new size and I’ve already filled in the gaps of hand-me-downs.

Don’t you feel like you get the most amazing deals and good brands too! We get the Tomato all of her jeans and sweatshirts there from Osh Kosh and Carter’s and feel like we save a ton.
