Terrain: Garden Inspiration
by Becky Elmuccio on April 30, 2012
Last week, we headed over to Terrain in Glen Mills, PA for a ladies’ lunch. In attendance were myself and Tomato, my sister and her Nugget and my mom. In addition to dining on an incredible lunch at their organic garden cafe, we wandered the grounds, taking in the inspiration, thinking of what to do in our own gardens, and picking up a slew of bags of Organic Mechanic and Frey Brothers compost in order to ready my tomato and pepper bed. If you are in the Philly area, please be sure to get yourself to Terrain this season. The nursery, lifestyle store and cafe are great motivators for what one can achieve in the garden, home and kitchen. Those of you in the Westport, CT area will soon be presented with the second outpost of this business. Check out the webpage to stay updated on its opening date in May. Below are just some of the images that have my brain running this spring…

Just the sign alone gets me excited to see what lies within |

I am definitely in love with allium this year. I dream of finding good spaces for it against our fence. |
|
Black hens and chicks can be such a gorgeous succulent. I’d love to attempt this frame or this one someday. |
|
I’m thinking that we can scour some yard sales and flea markets this summer to recreate some of these chairs. |
|
What an adorable potting shed set up! |
|
Precious pots full of potential! |

This could be reduced to a small scale on a sturdy fence and be a great spot for herbs to grow. |
Do you have any local nurseries that inspire you?

What a beautiful place! I wish we had a place like this close by. I was thinking of hanging some pots off my fence, I may try it….
The website has great inspiration too Corinnea. I think they have a Pinterest page as well. It’s fun to browse and dream!
I love the terra cotta pots on the shelves!!! Yes we do have some nurseries around here with loads of inspiration…that’s usually all I get they are quite pricey.
Yeah, this one can get expensive too. But, it’s fun to go and get ideas. The chair was out of my range, but now I know what to look for at yard sales.
Beautiful! I like the vertical gardening wall except it’d be too many pots to hand water! lol I love going to nurseries and I always find more things to buy than I planned to. Gardening and garden shopping is an addiction!
I think I may do about 8 pots on the fence for herbs. It would be a great way to put things on my daughter’s watering level too.
Lisa Lightner and I were talking about meeting near Whole Foods since I want to check out the new one. Terrain is right on the way so of course, I need to stop by!
It’s great for a stroll through and they are great at staying on top of great new eco-friendly ways to take care of your garden.
It’s a good day when I’m shopping especially for plants. Aaah but now I have to resist. Looks like a great nursery.
It is fun! Thanks for stopping by, Becca!
Love the picture of the black hens and chicks, and I’m still lusting over that swirly metal chair! A favorite somewhat local nursery here is Joy Creek Nursery in Scappoose, Oregon (about 30 min. from our place). They not only have a great nursery, but they have landscaped grounds that use their plants that they sell, so you can walk around and see what the plants look like in an actual (gorgeous) garden. When we first moved to the area, we went to this nursery just to look at the garden each month, so I could see how the garden plants changed and developed over time. Very inspirational place to go for garden ideas!
That is awesome that they do a layout like that. I will have to see what they have online. Maybe they have a Pinterest page. Hmmm…
thanks for linking up and tweeting about Garden Tuesday!!!
My pleasure Pam! I am happy that Barb @ A Life in Balance sent me your way!
Hi Becky,
Lots of wonderful inspiration! I love Allium and can picture that in front of your fence. Happy Gardening and thank you for stopping to visit me.
Thanks for stopping by here too, Donna!
Planting on a wall is becoming more popular. Not sure how I would do….
Thanks for visiting me at A Season for All Things. I’m your newest follower and look forward to reading more of your posts.
Thanks for stopping by Ellen!
I love going to our Amish stores for plants and inspiration – although just driving by some of the yards is inspiring!
I wish we were closer to a good Amish store to browse. Maybe a road trip to Lancaster is in our summer future.
I love the shelves full of pots. That looks like a great place to visit.
My favorite! I could move in if I thought that they would let me. 🙂
i love these ideas! Thanks so much for linking up to the Cottage Garden Party over here at Fishtail Cottage so we all could see! xoox, tracie
Happy to do so, Tracie! I am excited to check out the other posts too!
I have never been to Terrain but it looks terrific. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Jessica, it’s a great spot for a ladies’ lunch as we did or even as a half hour walk around to clear your head after dropping the kids off at school. I am heading there again today to get the last bags of dirt for our raised beds. Hopefully, the weather stays with me!
