Welcome to National Agriculture Week folks! It’s definitely heating up to be time to plan your vegetable gardens, get seeds ordered and for the ambitious ones, get them started indoors. But, before you get to those stages of planning, be sure to check out the new USDA plant hardiness zone map. Some zones have changed. We were always on the fence of 6 and 7, but are firmly in the 7 zone now. Your hardiness zone determines what types of plants you can expect to have success with in your gardens or fields. The new map and link above let you type in your zip code to help to determine your zone. I am also happy to report that they have gone completely digital for the map, and so you can keep it paper free. So, check out your zone, think about or rethink what you want to plant and enjoy the coming spring!
