Burp Cloths, Bibs and Meathead Hats Extravaganza
by Becky Elmuccio on December 14, 2011
This year, we had a very busy baby summer and fall for our friends and family. We were happy to congratulate all on the arrivals of seven new babies and one more on the way this January. With all of those babies arriving, I have been busy firing off bibs, burp cloths and hats galore. The patterns used below are great staple ones to have in your knitting arsenal as they each only take a night or two to complete. I’ve talked about the Mason Dixon Knitting patterns of the Baby Bib O’ Love and the Baby Genius Burp Cloth before. When I knit for new babies, I have started to include big brother and big sister gifts. This is where the Meathead Hat pattern from Knitalong by Larissa Brown has come into play. A fantastically whimsical pattern is this! It takes one night of knitting to complete, is thick and comfy and will keep the head of the wearer super toasty in winter. Below are the incarnations of many of the baby and big brother/big sister gifts that were knit over the last few months. All packages should have been received by now, so hopefully I am not giving any spoilers away for the friends who read the blog.

All of the baby knitting has been a blast. It’s fun to send something homemade off to a new little one’s family. I still need to grab pictures of the ones that I knit for my sister’s new arrival, but I will post those and the version of the Meathead that I knit for Tomato in the coming week. On the needles now are a bunch of different holiday knits and a pair of mittens for Tomato for this winter. Hopefully, I’ll wrap up the mittens tonight or tomorrow. As for the holiday knits, they may be arriving half knit in the bag with the pattern for Christmas morning and will be finished at a later date. Luckily, I have flexible relatives!
